The Women of Ohio project is dedicated to honoring the achievements of Ohio women through public participation and creative expressions of art and poetry. This initiative invites artists and writers to explore the impact of these extraordinary women on our communities, providing a platform to share and celebrate their stories.
We are seeking poetry and artwork inspired by notable women from Columbus and across Ohio. While we restrict entries to artists and writers aged 16+ from Ohio, participation is open to everyone—regardless of gender. We encourage everyone to research and learn about these remarkable women. Submissions will be judged based on their knowledge or connection to the featured women, the originality of their approach, and the effectiveness of their chosen methods.
A list of notable women from Ohio and Columbus is available on the project website, though we recognize there may be many hidden figures whose contributions are lesser-known. The woman you choose to write about can be a widely recognized figure or someone who has made a significant impact on your community or in your personal life—such as a teacher, mentor, or family member.
